2014 July Traverse City Cherry Festival

When we first arrived at the Cherry Festival, we enjoyed a cherry pancake breakfast. We had to first catch our pancakes as the cooks flipped them at us.
Susan, John, Patti, & Don with Cliff enjoying the breakfast.  This is the third caravan we have traveled with these 2 couples.

In downtown Traverse City.  Everyone had to pedal to make this Cyclepub go.

What's a festival without a mascot.  Of course it was a cherry.
The airshow was the main highlight of the festival.  It started with Coast Guard helicopters.  Below are P-51 mustangs, a fighter bomber from WWII.
The F-22 below is the Air Force's newest fighter aircraft.  "It's combination of stealth, supercruise, maneuverability, and integrated avionics, coupled with improved supportability, represents an exponential leap in warfighting capabilities," as stated by the Traverse City newspaper.  One maneuver this jet made was to fly straight up, came to a stop, then started falling backwards in a controlled fall.  Then suddenly turned on the engines and just flew ahead with unbelievable speed.
Below the F-22 is flying tandem with the P-51.  No other fighter jet could possibly fly this slow.
A bi-plane is showing off it's tricks.
The climax were the Navy Blue Angels.  There were 6 of them, but I only could get a picture of 4 together.  They put on a wonderful show.

You've got to be proud of our military.
